A couple of times here on the blog I have shared with you things that I saw on Pinterest and tried, such as the Watermelon Baby Carriage, my Green Looking Glass Vases, my Thank You Notes via Pinterest and How to Clean Ceiling Fan Blades. Well today I want to share with you another Pinterest success.
A couple of weeks ago I pinned this You Tube video on making collaged jewelry pendants using Mod Podge Dimensional Magic on my Pinterest Board Jewelry Designs I Like. Now this video has been around awhile and may not be anything all that great, but it covers a technique I have wanted to try for quite some time. I have lots of paper scraps that I have wanted to incorporate into my jewelry making and I am always drawn to these handmade collaged pendants, but I was always afraid to try. After watching this quick little video and seeing how simple it looked, I was hooked.
I am not going to do another tutorial on how to do this, that is covered very well in the video. But here are the results of my attempts.

This first one, is a longer necklace. I used brass chain and ruby colored Czech glass crystal beads with brass bead caps and accessories.

There is a hidden message under the Love/Heart Charm. I used a scrap of scrapbook paper with a birdcage and nasturtium. I also added a little lady bug scrap and small red crystal beads embedded in the Mod Podge. There is even a little glitter on the lady bug for extra added bling. I cut the word out of a magazine article.

The clasp is a simple brass lobster claw. After I had made this one, Keith found it hanging on the rack and it caught his eye and he commented on how well it turned out. Yea! It worked!

I even made matching earrings.

I decided to use the crystals with the bead caps.

They are light and dangly.

The second necklace turned out just as nice, I think.

For this pendant I used a scrap of turquoise paisley paper that came it n a box of thank you notes. I am so glad that I saved that paper scrap.

And it also contains a Surprise message under it’s brass charm and Czech glass crystal. I cut the Surprise word out of another magazine article. It was in matching turquoise print which went perfectly with the colors.

It has a multi metal chain that is a little on the steampunk side.

It has a decorative brass toggle clasp.

And I made matching earrings for this one, too.

I used different metals in these so that they mimicked the look of the chain.

These have lots of movement and are a fun compliment to the necklace.

So, I can definitely chalk this one up to success. Pinterest definitely is a great way to find and learn new things. I am so glad that I found this tip. The instructions in the video were really easy and the results turned out just like I had hoped. I now know how to easily make collaged pieces to add to my jewelry. Now, to find more pendants to collage!
