Decorating With Pumpkins, Squash and Gourds

October 5, 2013 by tigermucha 3 Comments

Over-20-Ways-to-Decorate-With-Pumpkins-and-Gourds

I love decorating for fall with Pumpkins, Squash and Gourds. And I am not talking about just carving Jack-O-Lanterns to put out on the porch. I am talking about making a themed display or a vignette to showcase the bounty of a fall harvest. And, I am not the only one. If you want a little inspiration, just go to Pinterest to see what I am talking about. Let me share a few ideas I have pinned to my Falloween board.   Just click on the picture to take you to the source.

 White Glittered Pumpkins

These little mini white Baby Boo pumpkins look magical with glitter.

Baby Boos in a Cupboard

There are tons of inspirational photos of decorating with white pumpkins at Craftberrybush.

Mercury Glass Pumpkin and Cloche

Green Pumpkins

Gorgeous Green Pumpkins!

 Rustic Fall Setting

A lovely rustic, fall setting with green and silver pumpkins.

White Pumpkins and Hydrangeas

White Pumpkins and Hydrangeas.

Pumpkin Nests

This table setting with pumpkins in nests is very rustic and natural feeling.

Gourds in a Window

These simple gourds and glass in a window are from a Hungarian site.

 Pumpkins in a Dough Bowl

And here we have pumpkins and squash in a dough bowl.  Have you noticed a theme this year?  Seems greens and whites are the go to colors for decorating this fall.  And if you want to make your own decorative pumpkins, there are lots of tutorials and tips on decorating faux pumpkins.

DIY Faus Pumpkin Tutorial

This one shows you how to make them look like the bluish-green ones that can be so pricy.

White Spray Painted Pumpkin

Here you can learn how to give an orange pumpkin a makeover with white paint and watered down metallic paint.

Glitter Pumpkin

And what about a glittered pumpkin?

 Lacy Pumpkin

Or a lacy pumpkin using a fancy stocking?

Black Lace Pumpkins

These use pieces of black lace to make them look ultra Goth.

Jeweled Pumpkins

Now these jeweled pumpkins by Horchow could easily be duplicated using a little glue, sequins and glitter.

Pretty Tape and Ribboned Pumpkins

I like these with pretty tape and ribbons.

Black and White Pumpkins

I love these Hand Sketched Sharpie Pumpkins by the Happy Housie.

Black and White Trio

Here is another trio of Black and White Pumpkins.

Doily Stencil

Use a doily to stencil a design.

Bibbity Bobbity Boo

Unfortunately, the link on this image was not good, but just painting or stenciling a greeting works well, too.  Of course, as an alternative to carving a Jack-O-Lantern, there are tons of cute alternatives, such as these.

 Bat O Lanterns

How cute are these little Bat O Lanterns?

Black Cat

And making this black cat looks pretty simple.

Black Cats

And here is another version, still looks easy and super cute.

Hello Pumpkin

Or instead of Hello Kitty, how about Hello Pumpkin?

Witchy Gourd

And this witchy gourd by pinchmeboutique on Etsy is super adorable.  Again, there are so many ideas of how to create something fun or scary without even spilling any pumpkin guts!

What are some of your favorite ways to decorate with Pumpkins, Squash and Gourds?
