As you may have already guessed, I love ephemera and vintage items such as old postcards, trade cards and scraps from the Victorian era. You see them on the blog header and in many of my posts. I also love photography and using digital elements to create hybrid “scrapbooks” so to speak. I also know how much I love finding “freebies” on the internet, such as ephemera, old graphics, grungy textures, interesting photo frames, backgrounds and other cool elements to spark up my pages.
Well, I figure I should pay it forward and start sharing some ‘freebies” myself. I already have posted several items that would fit the profile and want to start doing this on a more regular basis. I started looking around at other blog sites that do this and man, it looks like it could involve some work. I won’t be able to be as frequent at The Graphics Fairy (one of my favorite sites) but I think I can at least commit to several times a month as a start. I know once you commit to an item, your readers will expect you to carry through with it. Karen, aka The Graphics Fairy posts new images daily. Yikes! Plus she has other posts going on over on her site.
So, I started thinking about what I could call my effort to offer goodies on the world wide web. Some bloggers schedule items on certain days, like every Tuesday or Friday. Well, again, that is a weekly commitment, still not one I am ready to tackle. So, it hit me while I was doing laundry yesterday. What I do is Digital. It’s a Goodie. And since I will be doing ramdonly, why not any Day instead of just one day of the week. That way it will be like a surprise since you don’t know when it’s coming. Viola! DGD or Digital Goodie Day is born on Three Little Kittens.
I am by no means an expert at anything. I like to play in Photoshop, manipulate digital images and use them in my blogging and in preserving my memories. So, what can you expect with Digital Goodie Day? Well, I think you can expect vintage ephemera and images from my collection, maybe some layouts using clipping paths or original papers and elements that I have created to scrapbook memories. Maybe it will be an inspirational quote partnered with vintage ephemera, or I might become brave and create some tutorials, but there are already a lot of great ones out there so it will probably be more about sharing little creations of my own.
With that said, here is the first official Digital Goodie! California Poppies are a favorite of mine and Keith’s. I just wish I could grow them in our garden, but that is a different story.
