Signs of Rudesheim

July 13, 2016 by tigermucha 1 Comment

On Monday I told you about visiting Rudesheim and the Drosslegasse.  Today I want to share a few more pictures of some of the pretty signs in Rudesheim.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Weinhaus-Endlich

There were not only just signs, but painted signs on the sides of buildings in Rudesheim.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | La-Bamba-Cocktail-Bar

I love the lamb painted above the La Bamba Cocktail Bar.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Weingut-Kilp

And the Weingut Kilp had a metal sign with a grapevine wreath surrounding a goblet or chalice.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Hotel-Sign

Some were plain, like the hotel sign.  And some were small leading to businesses off the beaten path.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Zur-Lindenau-Weinstube-Sign

Most of them though were decorative metal signs.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Golden-Sun-Sign-Square

This one with the gilded sun and tankard really caught our eye.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Drosselhof-Square

And when we got to the Drosselgasse, they became even more ornate, with lots of details, like this one with the three little men above.  There were even relief carvings on the buildings.  And lots and lots of grapes and wine motifs.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Wein-Window

Just look at the detail surrounding that window above.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | BEI-Hannelore-International-Wirsthaus

They were for restaurants, biergartens, cafes and hotels.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Eis-Cafe-Sign

I liked the gilding on this sign and the little cherub.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Geschenkhaus-Lauter-Hotel-and-Post-Sign

Some had a kitschy kind of feel.

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Drosselgasse-Sign

Some were pretty simple, but still you knew this was a wine growing town!

THREE LITTLE KITTENS BLOG | Horse-and-Carriage-Sign

But this was my favorite.  This one had so much detail, it even has passengers riding in the carriage.  It is not just a sign but a neat little piece of art.  It was fun taking notice of the many little signs in and around Rudesheim.  I am sure there are lots of others that I missed, we were only there for a few hours as we stopped while on a Viking River Cruise.  Maybe some day I will have more time to explore and see what other signs I can find.
