I’m A Winner!

Have you ever won a giveaway contest?

In my lifetime I can say that I have won a few.  I remember when I was in elementary school I was the correct caller to a local radio contest and I had the correct answer.  I don’t remember what the question was or what the answer was, I just remember winning.  And, I remember that big old stereo system my parents had that we used to listen to the radio, back in the day.  It was one of those big floor cabinets, about 4 or 5 feet long and about 3 feet high.  The speakers were inside and you accessed the radio, record player and I think eight track tape player (yes, I am a child of that generation) by opening up half of the top of the cabinet.  So, you could use the top to display things like picture frames and knick-knacks, but only on one side.

Well, I remember being so excited.  And what did I win?  A gift certificate to a local florist where I picked out some pretty houseplants.  I don’t remember what kind I picked out or what ever happened to them, but that is the story of the first time I ever won anything in a giveaway contest.  I have won a few other giveaway contests throughout the years, but not many.  And it’s not because I don’t enter them – I do!  But thankfully I am not addicted to entering contests.  I just enter them now and then as I come across them as long as they are fairly effortless and don’t require that I give out all of my life info or add me to any spamming lists.

Last month I came across this giveaway on Petticoat Junktion – one of the blogs I follow through Bloglovin.   Bloglovin is an app that you can download to your iPhone or iPad where you can read blogs that you follow.  And you can also access them on your computer, but the app makes it easy to read on your phone.  As new posts happen from your favorite bloggers, they show up in your feed.  Which is pretty convenient if there are lots of blogs that you follow.  You don’t have to navigate to each of them on the internet, they are all right there in the app.  And you can interact with them just like you normally would, you can click on links, pin favorite items, tweet or share to Facebook, leave comments or even enter giveaway contests, like I did.  Kathy at Petticoat Junktion was giving away three boxes of craft supplies to randomly chosen winners.  And guess what?  I won the box you see above.  And let me share with you what I won – I hit the jackpot!

Kathy included these four vintage Christmas cards.  Wow!  She didn’t even know what a big fan of Vintage Ephemera I was.

And there were some scrapbooking supplies, like these banner wedges and punched rounds.  And those magnets are so feminine and pretty.  And I am a huge fan of buntings and banners and scrapbooking!

There was a pretty gold candle holder/pot.  And a violet mason jar.  There was a piece of brass hardware and a chippy, painted metal mini corbel.  And those earrings!  Kathy probably had no clue that I love to repurpose vintage costume pieces into upcycled pendants for my jewelry!  Does that give you goose bumps or what?

There were several kinds of craft paint, chalk paint and a can of chalky finish spray paint along with an entire package of brushes!  Kathy is a pro at painting, so if I have any questions I will be sure to send her a note.

And lastly, Kathy was super brilliant with her packing.  She nestled everything inside the box with a generous section of fabric drop cloth.  I can reuse this in so many ways.  I want to thank Kathy for the goodies!  They will be put to good use and I have already been scouring Pinterest for ideas.  It was so fun to win this box of craft supplies and it is super fun to be a winner!
